Slices of Emotion

My "Slices of Emotion" are quotes from the reflective pieces written throughout my internship experience. Each piece documents my time in the classroom under the guidance of my mentor teacher. The selected few quotes from my journal entries symbolize my internship experience and serve as a testament to the pleasure bred from being an educator. I am beyond thankful for the opportunity to observe a wonderful first-grade teacher in action and to have instructed a marvelous group of students.

"With the beginning of my internship looming, I feel an inherent sense of exhilaration [...] I have a feeling that I will have an amazing experience with Mrs. Campomizzi."

"I absolutely love my placement in all regards."

"I was so mesmerized on my first day that time completely flew by. My cheeks started hurting from how much I was smiling."

"I made different voices for the different characters and seeing them all so giddy at this made me extremely content."

“'Tomorrow’s Teachers' as a whole has completely changed my views on education. In my own classes, I can pinpoint specific tactics that teachers are using in their own teaching."

"Education is such a wonderful profession and being at the front of making a real change for these students is an experience like no other."

"Overall, my internship has been a collection of happy moments."

"The results of the Mid-Chapter Quiz that students took this week were spectacular, and I truly couldn’t have been prouder of myself and of them."

"I think the key that has made my internship so successful is that I love all the little things. All the excited hands when I ask questions and the 'Thank Miss Bentancur' at the end of the day from all the kids, and oddly enough the constant phrase 'Can you sharpen my pencil?' has become a safe comfort."

"My mentor and my students were absolutely perfect. I’m genuinely going to miss them to the moon and back."
